Found by Crispin Silva as a sport on Jade Butterflies, this varigate so far has proved stable. Of course it barely grows, but it’s a beaut. zone 4

(maybe Tschi Tschi) Instead of a majestic 60′ tree, this is a shrubby 16′ mound. The leaves are smaller too although still the distinctive shape. Zone 4.

About Whitman Farms

Whitman Farms began in 1980 as an informal nut tree and small fruit adjunct to a large bareroot nursery next door in Salem Oregon. It was a one-woman show and mostly for fun. However, Lucile Whitman (pictured), the owner, got sidetracked; she became enamored of unusual ornamental trees and started planting any weird and wonderful woody plants she ran across, using root control bags, a new plant-friendly technology.
