Of all the upright reds (Bloodgood types), this is my personal favorite. It grows to a gracefully spreading 12′ with good branch structure, and excellent color in cummer and fall. Zone 5. All sizes are available even if they aren’t mentioned.

This is one of the trees in the corallinum group as you can tell by the spring leaf coloring. This tree is more likely to ‘tree up’ than many of the others, by which I mean that it will get some height (12′) and look more like a tree than a bush. zone 5.

In the spring this tree’s small palmate leaves are a bright green rimmed in purple, much like Tsumagaki, but the striking coloration doesn’t last long. The nice thing about the tree is that it is a graceful upright to 10′ which can grow in full sun, whereas Tsumagaki melts in the sun.
